The charging process of AC EV Charging

During the electric car charging process, current must pass through thousands
of parts when conducting inside.There are main 6 steps of AC EV Charging
process.

(1) Plug the “connector”, the CC/CP loop voltage will check if the connector of
ev charger is well connected with ev car. After confirming no problem, the high
voltage contactor closes to provide OBC AC power.

(2) OBC will be self-check fault after power up, If no faults are found, it outputs
a low-voltage auxiliary power supply, and then BMS and VCU power up.

(3) The VCU detects the “charging signal” and the “AC charging connection”
sent by the BMS,The “high voltage relay” closes and controls electronic lock
to execute the “locking logic”.

(4) The BMS detects whether the connector of ev car is well connected and
get the “rated capacity of the cable” through the CC loop voltage; PWM signal
of the CP loop will confirm the supply current of ac charger . The BMS sets the
“allowed input current value” for the OBC , and sends the voltage and current
data to the OBC.

(5) The BMS engages the charging relay and sends the “charger control
command” through the CAN,the OBC start to charge.

(6) When the BMS detects that the battery gets “full charge state” or receives
the “stop charging message” sent by the OBC, it disconnects the charging relay;
the VCU detects that the BMS has disconnected the charging relay, then it
disconnects the “high-voltage relay” and controls the electronic lock to execute
the “unlocking logic.”

This is the process of electric vehicle charging.
